Nature Observation #1 The small stream flowed lusciously in the pure greenbelt by my house. The water sparkled with the sun’s reflection as if someone had thrown glitter into the steady brook. The plants surrounding the stream had a perfect arch to them, allowing the leaves to flawlessly drape over the water without ever getting wet. My eyes focused on the singular drops of water, which moved quicker than one might expect. Each tiny drop resembled that of a marathon runner racing downstream, on the verge of finishing an unending race. I wondered where this water came from, and where it was going. I reached my hand down to feel the smooth undefined texture that water possesses. I scooped up a small amount with my two hands and splashed it on my face. The water chilled my sweaty pores from a hot Texas afternoon, giving me the immediate refreshment that I needed. I followed a few specific drops for quite some time until eventually, they regathered into a larger body of water...

A Small Disturbance (NJ1) On a crisp weekday morning, I decided to head to the gym before beginning my typical eight-hour shift at work. It was the last week of summer before school started, and I wanted to soak up all the free time I could get my hands on. It was a perfect morning to engage in a quick workout. The sky shone with a baby blue color with not a single cloud in the sky. The grass of my front lawn had been freshly mowed, and I could smell the sweet aroma as soon as I opened my front door. I walked toward my car and noticed a few squirrels scurrying around outside. I began to admire the playfulness of these creatures. After arriving at the gym, I jumped out of my car and the scorching Texas air hit my face like a slap on the cheek. I began walking towards the gym when I noticed something small and fury lying flat on the road.
