An Impact on Nature (NJ8)
An Impact on Nature (NJ8)
As the semester winds down and the stress of finals week slowly begins to creep into the minds of many students, I wanted to reminisce on the time we spent at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge last month. The experience we shared together as a class was something that I will cherish for the rest of my collegiate career, and I hope to embark upon similar endeavors later in life. Although it may have seemed like a simple task of laying down erosion blankets along the shoreline, this small gesture made a substantial impact on our environment. I can wholeheartedly say that I enjoyed going to the Nature Center every Wednesday as it slightly altered the routine of my schedule during my otherwise mundane weeks. I've attached a picture of my good companion and friend, Billy, who is clearly demonstrating the level of enthusiasm both of us developed during our time at the Nature Center.
With each staple that we planted in the ground to secure the erosion blankets in place, I grew a greater appreciation for the land we currently inhabit. Us as humans can indisputably help this land grow and prosper but at the same time, many of our daily activities hurt the planet more than we know. We must seek out these harmful activities and consciously amend our oftentimes unconscious mistakes. However, this adjustment is easier said than done. I believe by gaining experiences like the one our class obtained at the Nature Center will help society come to the realization that our planet has much more to offer than just a means of exploitation.
